GETTING FESTIVE WITH CARRO DJUPSJÖ
Ever wondered how star Wakeboarder Carro Djupsjö kicks back and chills for the festive season, when she isn’t cutting loose on the water? What movies does she enjoy? What sweet treats is she indulging in? What are her favourite festive traditions? We did too, so we’ve got you the scoop! Our Team LifeProof star has returned from an epic trip to sunny Bali and is stoked to be back with family in Stockholm for the holidays. She’s getting in the festive mood and is even anticipating snow. Fingers crossed there’s space for a few more people at the Djupsjö dinner table! Here we go…
Q. What does the festive season look like in the Djupsjö household?
A. There really isn’t a usual way I spend my holidays since I’ve spent the past 8 years traveling and sometimes Christmas has been spent on a beach in Australia, others at the cable park in the Philippines and this year I’m going to be home with my family in Stockholm!
Q. WHAT TIP WOULD YOU GIVE PEOPLE STARTING OUT IN YOUR SPORT?
A. Make mistakes! Don’t be afraid to fail or to look ‘uncool’. Just go out there and try new things and surround yourself with people who inspire and support you.
Q. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year? Any special Swedish traditions?
A. The 13th of December we celebrate “Lucia” where we wake up early and listen to choirs, light candles and eat tons of treats. I love the atmosphere around this day so I think it’s my favourite part.
Q. What is the best gift you’ve ever received?
A. My bike as a kid – nothing beats that feeling haha.
Q. What is the worst present you’ve ever received?
A. The one time my sister decided to be funny… let’s just say I got something you definitely don’t want to open up in front of the entire family!
Q. What is your all-time favourite holiday food/sweet treat?
A. My absolute favourite thing around Christmas is “Lussekatter” which is a Swedish Christmas treat made with saffron and it has some different variations. My favourite one looks kind of like a cinnamon bun but instead of cinnamon it’s got marzipan in it. It’s hard to explain, you’ll have to come try it!
Q. What is your favourite festive film?
A. The Grinch!
Q. What is your favourite festive song?
A. None, unless its performed by my nephews and niece, then all of them.
Q. What’s the best part of the holidays for you?
A. To get a break and time to spend with my family or friends.
Q. Do you get to relax and veg out for the holidays or do you have to keep exercising and stay fit for 2019 season?
A. I don’t ‘have to’ stay fit. I love working out so I will be trying to do it as much as I can over the holidays. It will give me some extra time to focus on doing the things I love. Of course, I also love Christmas chocolates, so Christmas to me isn’t about “staying in shape”, it’s about enjoying things that are good for me (which includes both working out and chocolate)!
Q. You have been granted one wish…what will it be?
A. For my loved ones and my own health to stay good… (and the new IPhone X )
Q. Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you stick to them?
A. I don’t make resolutions; I make guidelines because I like the idea of new beginnings without the pressure of “resolutions”. My favourite one I made was to read more books and I actually did stick to that one that year. I think I will be bringing it back for 2019.
Q. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
A. It depends on the gift. I have the WORST imagination when it comes to gifts so when I find one that I feel is perfect I absolutely love giving it. Usually that’s not the case though, my family are way better at choosing gifts. So I have to say receiving!
Q. Give us your top gift guide for LifeProof products that would make a perfect gift:
A. My favourite case right now is SLΛM as I’m always in the gym. I don’t have to worry anytime I drop my phone out of my bag or my pocket plus I love how it’s slim and makes my
phone look cuter! Getting someone a phone case is usually super appreciated, as long as you know what kind of phone they have.
For that person who already has everything I recommend the LIVEACTIV quickmount armband, I use mine so much and it keeps my phone in one place during my whole workout. I don’t have to worry about it getting in the way. It’s perfect for when I’m running to my favourite podcasts or music.
